Description of the death of King Kalafaanu (Sulṭān Ibrahīm III) and the establishment of a waqf document for his shrine on the island of Hangnaameedhoo in Alif Dhaal Atoll. The date of his death is reported as 28 Shawwal 1017H./4 February 1609 CE. This text, however, may have been written up to several decades later as it mentions being composed during the judgeship of Qāḍi Muḥammad, who was later (re-appointed) under the reigns of Sulṭān ‘Imād al-Dīn I (1620-1648), and Sulṭān Ibrahīm Iskandar I (1648-1687). An English translation of this text has been published in: Ahmed Nazim Sattar, King Kalaafaan Manuscripts: How the Maldives Monarchy Treasured the Remembrance of a Fallen King for More than Four Hundred Years (Malé: National Centre of Linguistic and Historical Research, 2010), 67. This work is open-access available from the Virtual Library of the Maldives Heritage Survey website. The original document is kept in the Maldives National Archives in Male’.
