Kata Kenesei joined the Maritime Asia Heritage Survey (MAHS) and the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) at Kyoto University in 2021. Before transferring to the MAHS she conducted research in neuroscience at the Institute of Experimental Medicine of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest. Her Ph.D. work focused on the microscopic visualization and nanoscale localization of nanoparticles and target proteins in neural cells.

Since then, she has considerably widened the scope of her research interests to explore cross-disciplinary fields involving large data sets and image processing.

As Digital Heritage Officer for the MAHS she brings her rich skill set of data management, analysis and image processing to contribute to the development of our Arches database and the visualization of spatial data.
