Andrew Peacock is Professor of Middle Eastern and Islamic History at the University of St Andrews. His research focuses on links between the Indian Ocean world and the Middle East, the premodern history of the Islamic world, and Islamic manuscripts. He has previously been employed as Associate Director of the British Institute of Archaeology at Ankara, and as a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge. He also been Visiting Professor at the Department of History, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.
