HDH-VKD-4 | Ziyaraat and stonework ruins (2)

The road leading from the village to the ziyaarat was regularly cleaned. Inside of the ziyaarat could be found several pieces of pottery and glassware. Coconuts and other offering trees were planted around the shrine by the children of the island, and children were taught here by the Imam, every Monday and Friday. They say the site of the ziyaarat marks the place where organs of a human body were found washed up on the shore. Another legend tells of the ziyaarat’s tall flagpole being swept away by the waves one day. Despite the efforts of the people, it could not be retrieved and re-installed. The next day, however, the flagpole was seen back standing upright in its original position.
