Maldives National Archives, Malé

The National Archives of Maldives was officially established in 2012 to preserve official documents, photos, and other materials for posterity. Its collections also include a number of manuscripts dating back centuries before the foundation of the modern Republic, including waqf endowments, court documents, letters and other texts written in Arabic, as well as in both Dhives Akuru and Thaana-script forms of Dhivehi. In cooperation with the National Archives and the Maldives Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage, the MAHS is proud to be able to make digitizations of this important body of primary source material publicly available through our database and interactive online manuscript viewer
