Eliza Agabin is the Heritage Resource Manager for the Maritime Asia Heritage Survey (MAHS) and a Program-Specific Researcher at CSEAS. She holds a Masters in World Heritage and Cultural Projects for Development at the ITC-ILO Turin School of Development, Italy and a Masters in Cultural Heritage Studies at the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines.
Before joining MAHS, she was involved in the management of heritage projects in the northern Philippines including heritage conservation, archaeology, anthropology, history, and museology. She was part of several research projects and publications on Ilocos intangible heritage, the urban history of Vigan, maritime history in the West Philippine Sea / South China Sea, and the digitization of Ilocos archival records.
She was formerly also with the SEAMEO SPAFA Regional Centre for Archaeology and Fine Arts in Bangkok, Thailand in 2016. Her research interests are Southeast Asian trading entrepôts, culture-based urban regeneration, and heritage and development.
