Hiroshi Ishii is a Heritage Documentation Officer of the Maritime Asia Heritage Survey (MAHS). He holds a Master of Maritime Archaeology from Flinders University, South Australia, and has attended several field schools in the U.S., Peru, Micronesia, and Australia. He is also an American Academy of Underwater Science (AAUS), and AUS/NZ Scientific Diving Association (ANZSDA) certified Scientific Diver.
His participation in a 3D photogrammetry workshop in Chuuk Lagoon led him to develop his 3D recording and 3D data application skills and his fascination with World War II underwater culture heritage related to Japan. His current research focuses on the relationship between people and Japanese Second World War heritage around the Pacific region, especially aircraft, and submarines.
