Angie Ching Yi Kwan is a Heritage Survey Officer of the Maritime Asia Heritage Survey and a Program-Specific Researcher at the Kyoto University Center for Southeast Asian Studies.
Prior to joining MAHS, she has completed her master’s degree regarding the Theory and History of International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science. During this time, she served as an editor and editorial board member for two academic journals respectively, and has become a speaker of five academic conferences at venues such as the University of Cambridge, Freie Universität Berlin, and the University of Hong Kong.
The presented topics varied, ranging from the international politics of regions of Latin America and Algeria, to the global history regarding Anglo-American raw material acquisition for nuclear weapon during the second world war.
Prior to her time in London, she had also worked as a research assistant at the Asia Research Institute at the National University of Singapore and was inspired by the cultural diversity of Southeast Asia. She is now happy to continue her intellectual journey with the MAHS team, contributing to the preservation of maritime Asian heritage.
