Job Descriptions:
The Heritage Documentation Manager will lead a team in Kyoto to ensure high-quality records are produced and delivered on time. The primary responsibilities include overseeing the review of data collected by the MAHS Field Survey Teams in Indonesia, the Maldives, and Thailand and ensuring that the quality of the records meets project standards.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing guidance and technical assistance as needed, presenting, and discussing any issues encountered with incoming data to the MAHS Director, Project Manager, Country Coordinators, and Field Survey Team Leaders as appropriate. The candidate will also ensure adherence to all established project protocols for data management and reporting and perform other duties as required to maintain the efficient operations of the MAHS Digital Heritage Documentation Lab at Kyoto University.
Qualifications:
- Master degree (or higher) qualifications in any social science or humanities field but preferably with experience in cultural heritage management, museology, history, archeology, or anthropology.
- High level of spoken and written communication skills in English
- High level of negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to complete tasks on schedule and the management of deadlines
- Comfort with basic computing skills including the management of large data sets, organization of Google Drive folders, online tracking spreadsheets, and data capture / cataloging applications, Adobe software
- Competency in Microsoft applications – especially Excel and Word
- Ability to work with a diverse team of women and men from around the world
- Treating all people fairly and consistently and with dignity and respect
The position will be based at the Kyoto University Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS).
Starting date and term:
July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. The contract may be renewed/ extended depending on achievements until the completion of the project.
Probation period:
6 months
Working Conditions:
Five (5) working days per week (days off: Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, year-end and New Year holidays, Foundation Day, and summer vacation, as per university guidelines) Working hours: 38 hours 45 minutes per week under a discretionary labor system.
Salary:
Paid in compliance with the rules of Kyoto University, depending on skills and experience.
Allowance:
No allowance (such as for commuting, housing, bonuses, etc.) will be provided.
Social insurance:
Eligible for MEXT mutual aid association membership, employee’s pensions, employment insurance and workers’ compensation insurance.
