Maritime Asia Heritage Survey Maldives
The Maritime Asia Heritage Survey (MAHS) is a new five-year project to locate and document critically endangered heritagesites, structures, objects, and manuscripts across five countries in Maritime Southern Asia: Indonesia, Thailand, and the Maldives. Inthe Maldives, The Maritime Asia Heritage Survey (MAHS) is work in partnership with National Center for Cultural Heritage,Ministry of Art, Culture and Heritage. Our main focus is producing digital documentation using cutting-edge technologies toproduce an open-access on-line database to securely archive records of the diverse and distinctive heritage of the region, whichcurrently faces compound environmental and human threats to its preservation. The project is supported by the Arcadia Fund andbased at the Kyoto University’s Center for Southeast Asian Studies.
The MAHS is now recruiting a Data Management Assistant. Successful candidates will be required to travel extensively with the Team to a number of different Atolls in Maldives for up to ten months each year.
Responsibilities includes:
- Act as the point-of-contact for all incoming data, manage and record of all incoming data
- Check and maintain data entry requirements by following data program procedures and protocols
- Monitoring the quality control and security of the field data.
- Input data from survey forms into the project data inventory.
- Provide administrative and logistic support for field survey.
- Conducting other duties as are required to maintain the efficient operation of the Project.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years professional experience in entry and managing data, and administrative work.
- Knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point as well as internet and email program proficiently.
- Proficiency in English and the ability to work with a diverse team of women and men from around the world
- Willingness to work in a demanding environment that may require work outside of normal hours.
- Treating all people fairly and consistently and with dignity and respect.
Starting date and term:
Feb 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026.

3 months
