Explore our geo-referenced database covering Indonesia, Thailand, and the Maldives.
The MAHS database is built upon the Arches platform, providing an open-source, geo-referenced structure for the robust records of heritage sites, features, and objects produced by the MAHS Field Teams in Indonesia, Thailand, and the Maldives, as well as a range of project partners across the region.
The records in this database include GPS coordinates, measurements, and other spatial data, photographs, and field notes, as well as architectural drawings, 3D models, oral history videos, and other multi-media components.
In addition to the primary dataset generated by MAHS field teams active in the Maldives, Indonesia, and Thailand since 2018 this online archive also incorporates datasets generated and shared by project partners whose work has digitally documented archaeological sites, heritage buildings, artifact collections and manuscript holdings across maritime Southern Asia.
All of this data has been combined here within a structure that facilitates searches and comparative study across modern national borders, thus allowing for a wider perspective on trans-regional connections and shared historical experiences across far-flung shores.
