M. Mauroof Jameel, is an architect, independent researcher and an illustrator specializing in architectural heritage of the Maldives. He is also a consultant/lecturer at the Maldives National University and the principal local consultant for the UNESCO World Heritage Nomination of the Coral Stone Mosques of Maldives. During his 30-year career, he served the Maldives government in high-level posts, such as cabinet minister, contributing to the development of the construction, infrastructure and housing sector of the country. He played pioneering roles in the development of Hulhumale’, Hulhumale’ Development Corporation and Housing Development Finance Corporation of Maldives. He is also the immediate past president of the Architects Association Maldives. His current research focuses on coral stone mosques, traditional houses, and resorts of the Maldives. His work is presented through many publications, exhibitions and he is known for his work on the coral stone mosques of Maldives
