HAF-BRH-3 | Site of a former Maaloodhu Haruge and a renovated well

This is the place where Muhammad Thakurufaanu (d. 1585) and his two brothers stayed while they were building their famous boat, the Kalhuoh Fummi. For many years thereafter, this structure was used as a Maaloodhge – a communal building used for teaching and community assemblies for the recitation of Islamic devotional texts . It is not known if the well on site dates from the time of its original construction or not. However, the well was renovated during the presidency of Maumoon Abdul Gayoom (1978-2008).
