The Maritime Asia Heritage Survey (MAHS) is a new five-year project to locate and document critically endangered heritagesites, structures, objects, and manuscripts across five countries in Maritime Southern Asia: Indonesia, Thailand, and the Maldives. Inthe Maldives, The Maritime Asia Heritage Survey (MAHS) is work in partnership with National Center for Cultural Heritage,Ministry of Art, Culture and Heritage. Our main focus is producing digital documentation using cutting-edge technologies toproduce an open-access on-line database to securely archive records of the diverse and distinctive heritage of the region, whichcurrently faces compound environmental and human threats to its preservation. The project is supported by the Arcadia Fund andbased at the Kyoto Universityโ€™s Center for Southeast Asian Studies.

Theย MAHSย isย nowย recruitingย aย Dataย Management Assistant. Successfulย candidatesย willย be requiredย toย travelย extensivelyย withย the Teamย toย aย numberย ofย differentย Atollsย inย Maldivesย forย upย toย tenย months each year.

Responsibilities includes:

  • Act asย theย point-of-contactย forย allย incomingย data, manageย andย recordย ofย allย incomingย data
  • Check andย maintain dataย entry requirementsย by followingย data programย procedures andย protocols
  • Monitoring theย quality controlย and securityย of theย field data.
  • Inputย dataย fromย surveyย formsย intoย theย projectย dataย inventory.
  • Provide administrative and logistic support for field survey.ย 
  • Conducting other duties as are required to maintain the efficient operation of the Project.ย 

Qualifications:

  • Minimumย ofย 2ย yearsย professionalย experienceย inย entryย andย managingย data,ย and administrative work.
  • Knowledgeย ofย computerย software,ย includingย Microsoftย Word,ย Excel,ย Powerย Pointย asย wellย asย internetย and email program proficiently.
  • Proficiencyย inย Englishย andย theย abilityย toย workย withย aย diverseย teamย ofย womenย andย menย fromย aroundย the world
  • Willingness to work in a demanding environment that may require work outside of normal hours.
  • Treating all people fairly and consistently and with dignity and respect.ย 

 Starting date and term:

Feb 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026.

Probation period:

3 months
