Traditional Fishing Workshop

Discover traditional ways of reef fishing in Ambon, including a boat trip offshore to the large wooden fish trap weir (trap enclosure) embedded into the sea floor. Learn from local fishermen about their ancient and intricate techniques and gain insights into the customary practices that have sustained these traditions for generations – while also enjoying a delicious lunch of fresh fish and other local delicacies.

WORKSHOP TRAILER

REEF FISHING WORKSHOP

Ride in an outrigger boat and dive with fishermen in the last remaining reef-fishing trap (Sero Tancap) in Ambon, made of thousands of bamboo poles (belo) and rattan cords.

Learn about traditional ways of fishing, the economy and organization behind the conservation of this disappearing tradition, and about customary beliefs about the sea…

Cook fresh fish soup made of sea water and nutmeg from Maluku with the guild of fishermen from the Sero Tancap…
