Galeri Kaitetu is located in front of the Wapauwe traditional mosque, 200 meters away from the Amsterdam Fort and the Immanuel Church. This unique heritage lies on the North coast of Ambon Island, about 40 minutes away from the city or the airport. It can be easily reached by car or taxi.

Grand Opening of the Gallery Kaitetu

Galeri Kaitetu was officially opened on November 16, 2023, under the auspices of the Government of Maluku Province and the Ambon Cultural Conservation Centre (BPK XX). Galeri Kaitetu is the first learning and training centre for traditional carpentry and peacebuilding established in Southeast Asia.

ALIPH Project

The Aliph project in Ambon is a collaborative initiative dedicated to preserving ancient carpentry traditions by creating the Gallery Kaitetu. This permanent gallery, which hosts an exhibition space and training centre is located next to the historic Wapauwe Mosque in the village of Kaitetu, Ambon (Maluku). The Gallery Kaitetu project seeks to revitalize traditional woodworking techniques and related skills, offering Southeast Asia’s first hands-on educational program focused on Islamic heritage preservation.
