GRAND OPENING OF THE GALLERY KAITETU

The Gallery Kaitetu was officially opened on November 16 2023. It was preceded by an international seminar held in Ambon addressing the issues about the conservation of traditional mosques in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

Grand Opening of the Gallery Kaitetu

The inauguration of the Kaitetu Gallery for Traditional Carpentry and Peacebuilding was held on November 16 2023. Representatives of the Maluku Government attended this event, the Director of the Ambon Cultural Conservation Center (BPK XX) as well as several academics from within and outside the country, grassroots communities, NGOs and government institutions. This pioneering initiative is sponsored by the ALIPH Foundation and led by the École française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO Jakarta), in collaboration with the Directorate of Indonesian Culture and Maluku Province. This event was organised by Hélène Njoto (EFEO) with assistance from Tania Anjani Maulana, Siti Lumaela, Ramdhany Talib, Hayati Hatuwe, Ikhrima Hatuwe, Jasmin Maulaw and Mujar Oolong. The event was coordinated by 60 young women and men from Kaitetu and 10 interns from the National Directorate of Culture Internship program. It was held under the supervision of Raja Upu Atetu, the Kaitetu Adat leaders, and the Tukang 12.
